It all started May of 1982 when Ciro Briganti took over a salon partnership and called it Ciro’s Hair Pavilion. With over 10 employees, Ciro’s Hair Pavilion provided tanning, nails, wigs and hair services all in our corner salon at 172 Market St., Elmwood Park, NJ.
How did we get here? Ciro started his journey in the hair industry in Fort Lee and then moving to For Men Only in Garfield in the 1970s.
Back then, at Ciro’s Hair Pavilion, every chair was filled with perms and frosted caps. You could even smoke a cigarette while getting your hair done! 🤦🏻♀️ The smell of acrylic nails filled the air. Who remembers these times?!
In the 1990s, we expanded and built a kid’s cutting salon and sold bridal accessories and jewelry. Ciro’s Hair Pavilion became the destination for special event styling, communions, proms and bridal hair in Northern NJ. Ciro at one time styled 13 Brides in one weekend! 😱 Back then there were no hair trials. Brides just walked in and sat down and said “today I’m getting married! Can I get my hair done?”
The late 90s began a shift in the hair industry and bringing it into Y2K with the internet fast evolving, so was hair trends and our industry. We moved to our current location and Ciro’s daughter, Gabriella, began establishing a new generation of clientele, bringing in new techniques and trends.
The 2000s brought amazing opportunities and trends. Ciro’s eldest daughter, Nina, came onto the team and began managing and moving our salon forward. Gabriella trademarked her signature “Ombrélage” Coloring Technique exclusive to our clients, we grew our team and were one of the only salons that had developed a website and started using social media as part of marketing our wonderful team. It's amazing how far we've come from 1982...
As a family-owned business, we focus on people and our core values. Authenticity, Expertise, Quality and Integrity. We have employees that have been with us for 20-30 years and clients as well! We’ve been featured on TV, blogs, and have won Bridal Awards, but the reason we’ve been successful all these years? Our long standing relationships we have built with our clients and employees. We pride ourselves on being authentic, providing quality services, expanding and training on new trends and all while keeping our integrity.
We can’t wait for what’s in store! We plan to keep our core values, all while expanding and training new beauty professionals that join our team. It's so wonderful to continue to be a part of your lives and momentous occasions. Thru all the ups and downs of life, one thing remains the same, we’ll welcome you always with a warm reception and quality service. The bond of a hairdresser and client is sacred. We’re the first to know the good times and bad times. We’ve been with you thru marriages and breakups. Babies and grandbabies. New jobs and relationships. And we’ll continue for another 40 Years!!!
